The Harvard Din & Tonics
Boys from Harvard, Music from America (For English only)

A Brief Introduction
Founded in 1979 by a group of Harvard undergraduates intent on entertaining the immediate Harvard community and giving their services to local charitable organizations, the Din & Tonics have a rich and expanding tradition of musical and performance excellence. The “Dins” (as they are affectionately known) are still proud to root themselves at Harvard and in local service, but the appeal of their unique form of entertainment—“a cappella…with a twist”—has taken this professional student performance group around the world: audiences from Boston, Oslo, Prague, Tokyo, Bangkok, Sydney and beyond have greeted their precise musicality, stylistic choreography, and irrepressible sense of humor with enthusiasm and acclaim.

Basic Information
The Harvard Din & Tonics are a 13-man a cappella group, independent from Harvard University, though composed entirely of Harvard undergraduate students. The Dins’ repertoire centers on American jazz standards from the 1920’s through the 1940’s, but also includes selections from other genres such as rock ‘n’ roll, calypso, swing, and folk.
Almost all of the Dins’ music is arranged by current or past members. Members are selected each year through a rigorous audition process. Along with new musical arrangements, these new members bring fresh vitality to the Dins’ performances each year.
The Dins have released eleven albums in their 26-year history. Dinbound, the Dins most recent CD, was released in February of 2005, to much immediate acclaim.

Where the Dins Perform
During the academic year, the Dins perform in the greater Boston area and throughout the United States. They perform a wide range of functions, birthday and holiday parties, anniversaries, weddings and corporate conferences in addition to their public concerts on Harvard’s campus. Also during the year, the Dins spend several weekends in New York and tour the Western United States and Florida, in addition to annual tours to Vail, Colorado in January and to Bermuda in March.
This summer, the Dins will undertake their ninth World Tour. In July and August of 2006, the group will visit some 30 cities around the globe, sharing the joy of their music and their unique performance with new audiences worldwide. The Dins were last on tour in the summer of 2004 from June 11 through August 26, visiting a total of 22 countries in their travels through Europe, Asia, Australia and back to the United States. A complete list of past destinations, including photographs from past tours, can be found at our website, at www.dins.com.
