Wei Wen
Wei Wen was born in Sichuan, China in 1981. Began playing the violin at the age of three, her early musical education was in the middle school of Sichuan Conservatoire of Music with renowned Chinese Musicologist and Composer Baozhi Yang. Wei was invited by Prof. Shixiang Zhang to continue her study abroad after showing considerable talent in a competition in Russia. In Australia Wei was also tutored by violinist Charmian Gadd, a student of legendary Mr. Gingold. After finishing her study in the Juilliard School with Mr. Zhaoliang Lin, Wei is now an active soloist and also a Professor in the Sichuan Conservatoire of Music, where she spends five month each year to teach.
Her competition awards include medals from Sibelius Competition in Finland, Sarasate Competition in Spain, Wieniawsky Competition in Poland, Kloster Schontal Competition in Germany, Yampolsky Competition in Russia, etc.
As a soloist, Wei Wen has worked with orchestra such as Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra, Finland Radio Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Pablo Sarasate Symphony Orchestra, Australian SBS Youth Orchestra, etc.
